Its a complete afront to ones civil liberty and infringement of the personal responsibility that we should all take upon ourselves. Not to mention an affront to common sense.
If they were truly and totally concerned about Nicotine addiction they would
a) increase tobacco prices to ridiculous levels, or
b) ban tobacco products altogether, and
c) make Nicotine Replacement Therapies more affordable, or
d) place greater emphasis upon addiction therapies that do not rely on Nicotine based therapies.
They daren’t do any of the above as
a) the tobacco industry is a major lobbying power (see my comment on ‘the haves’ or ‘the elite’).
b) The NHS as it is recieves significant funding from the taxes harvested from smokers.
c) the manafacturers of Nicotine Replacement Therapies belong to the medical elite and hold far greater sway when it comes to achieving government support than for example individual psychotherapists specialising in addiction.
